What I’m Watching On Netflix Right Now

If I were to be given a pound for every hour I’ve spent watching tv series, well, you know where this is going already.

Truth be told, it started as a way to get my mind off anything crazy I was dealing with at the time, but it was too good of a remedy because it has become part of my lifestyle and while we can probably agree that I could spend my free time in more productive ways, what can I say? I don’t see that happening soon or ever.

When Netflix became a ‘thing’, I was a bit hesitant to get myself subscribed to the platform. In fact, I joined, got a free month trial I ended up not using at all and ditched it completely. My first impression didn’t last too long though because I accepted the second free month trial I received in my inbox a few months later. The second time sealed the deal, I had a lot of free time in that period and to be honest, there were finally a lot more things I was interested in watching.

The first show I remember watching religiously was Smallville. I remember watching it back in Italy after school from Monday to Friday on the Italia1 channel.

‘Somebody saaaaave me’. My sisters and I would sit on the couch and sing the theme song at the top of our lungs like it was karaoke night and while most of them were team Clark and Lana, I remember being the only one who didn’t mind Clark and Lois as a couple.

I watched the whole ten seasons of that show although that may or may not have had something to do with my childhood crush on Justin Hartley whose picture I had in my wallet till I was at least 14 (I was already a fulltime wierdo back then).

Anyways, a load of series and over a decade later, except for my ability to now get the innuendos, dirty jokes and lack of will power to actually go on the internet, print images of handsome six-packed middle-age men to crop and store in the front of my wallet, I’d say nothing’s really changed since then.

So, here are my top picks of shows on Netflix I’m devoting my time to watch right now and I think you should too ASAP:

YOU.

Yes, I jumped on the bandwagon once again. Yes, it is worth all the hype.

Ever wondered what goes on inside the mind of your average good guy looking book shop owner who also happens to be your creepy stalker? Well, wonder no more because this show will give you the insight you didn’t know you needed. The question is can you handle it?

The first episode alone thought me a few vital things:

In other words, now I’m paranoid at all times, but who cares where is season 2 already?

Suits.

I just started re-watching the show a few days ago. If you want to watch a consistently well written drama with twists and turns and amazing acting, this is the one to watch!

My attempts to adopt Harvey Specter’s lifestyle philosophies fail on the daily, but damn I’ll keep trying!

Oh, you get to learn a thing or two about law and all its shady in-betweens so that’s a plus.

Peaky Blinders.

Tomas. Freaking. Shelby.

 Nothing more to say here.

Dynasty.

In many ways it’s hard to relate to the characters portrayed in the series – their idea of normal includes private island and jets, divorce parties and a ton of mysterious murders. However, it is a perfect example of the saying ‘money can’t buy happiness’ as their lives are as messy and flawed as they come, and I guess in some weird way, that’s relatable.

And, Fallon Carrington. Is it weird that I hope throughout she remains the self-centred seemingly cold-hearted business minded person she is? A freaking boss.

Memories of Alhambra.

If you are a fan of Korean dramas or just a rollercoaster of weird and crazy plot twists, then you definitely should be watching this already. The writer of this show shows time and time again that it is still possible to write series that have originality and steer away from the super obvious clichés.

What series are you watching right now and what would you recommend I watch next?
