Celtic Manor Resort: A Luxurious Getaway To South Wales

There isn’t much I love more than packing my belongings into boxes and getting away to an unknown land. I’m sure you know that much by now. So, when I recently let my sister convince me to embark on a luxurious getaway to Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, you can guess there was not much convincing needed. I had never been to Wales before and was in much need of some DND time, so it felt like killing two birds with one stone.
We booked a double room for two nights and a direct train from Manchester Piccadilly to Newport in Wales. It was a go! The road to Celtic Manor Resort was not without its hiccups.
Our plan to get to Wales much earlier than check-in time was ruined by over 2-hour delay of our train. Either way, we made it to the resort at about 2.00 pm. At the front desk, it was confirmed check-in was at 4.00 pm and our room wasn’t ready yet.
The receptionist took our details and our number advising we’d receive a text if our room was ready in advance. After handing our bags to the concierge, we took the extra time as an opportunity to look around the Celtic Manor resort and enjoyed a lovely meal at The Grill – a fancy clubhouse restaurant on the resort premises. After our meal, we went up to our room for some overdue rest.

N° 803. That was our little haven during our little getaway to the Celtic Manor Resort. The room was spacious and there was more than enough room for two.
As we began to look around the room, we noticed our boxes were already waiting for us in the room as the receptionist had promised they would be.
As I always do, I picked the bed on the left side of the room and jumped on it as quickly as I could overjoyed. I could tell then I’d be getting a good night’s sleep later on. The brown interior as well as the sunsets in picture frames helped create a rather warm and cosy vibe in the room. By the window, which gave way to the view of a rather busy road as well as the seaside further away, there was a sitting area with a table and two oversized chairs.
The marble bathroom was equipped with a shower as well as a gorgeous bath which I was certain I’d be filling up with bubbles later that night. There were clean towels on the hangers and a large mirror perfect for all getting-ready needs. Two robes were enclosed in the wardrobes by the entrance of the room with enough space to hold our essential items during the trip.
Whilst, we were thrilled with our room, the mini bar and fridge left a little to be desired. Sure, there were tea bags, sachets of sugar or milk and a kettle, but the fridge was pretty much empty which didn’t exactly SCREAM luxury or 5-star. Definitely, room for improvement on that front!

What To Eat At The Celtic Manor Resort.

When it comes to food, the resort offers much to choose from. We had plenty of choice every morning with the breakfast we paid for when booking our room. The wide selection included a variety of cereals, a yummy selection of fresh fruits, baked beans, and much more. There were also vegetarian options available.
For lunch and dinner, we made sure to tour the many restaurants on the resort premises.
For foodies who love the beauty in choice, the Celtic Manor Resort has a little bit of everything when it comes to food and dining. From steaks to Asian-inspired cuisine to great bars – it’s all up to your cravings.
We especially enjoyed our meals at The Grill – so much that we returned a second time. Dinner at Rafters was also delicious as well (I’ll tell you more in separate restaurant review posts). Tables can be reserved on the resort’s website in advance, and some have dress codes – beware!
The hotel was equipped with shuttle buses that took visitors back and forth to the various areas and restaurants of the resort in no time. It was quite incredible just how efficient and effortless getting around the resort grounds was.
More You Need To Know About Celtic Manor.

- The Celtic Manor Resort offers really gorgeous views and a lot of open space. I’d recommend a walk along the golf course before the sun rises. It was definitely worth the early rise for my sister and me – trust me, I’m not a morning person at all.
- When it comes to wheelchair accessibility, getting around was fairly easy, but here’s a full comprehensive review on wheelchair access in the Celtic Manor.
- The resort also houses a SPA, swimming pool, sauna, and much more. The Celtic Mall is also conveniently situated in the hotel lobby – a perfect last stop before heading back to wherever you call home. For me, home is in Manchester, but something tells me it won’t be too long till another getaway to Celtic Manor Resort.
