Bitesize Wonders 76 ~ A Sunday Gratitude Journal

Effort. That’s what it took to put myself out there, as I promised myself I would in my previous Bitesize Wonders entry.
I took more steps towards achieving my career goals, I finally responded to almost all my unread messages, reached out to people I hadn’t seen or heard from in a while, and even stepped out into the city and away from the couch. As a serial bad texter who enjoys the safety of her four walls more and more, this was no easy feat.

Yes, these are all very normal things to do, but in the last few months, doing them felt like a chore requiring more effort than I had within me. There’s still much work to be done, but I know I’m a constant work in progress, so I’ll be taking things step by step and day by day.
It’s been easier to find more Bitesize Wonders when living life in a more fulfilling way and likewise even easier to put together a new list of mundane things to be grateful for.

Here is another update from my weekly gratitude journal that celebrates the little big things that make me even one ounce of happy:

My Bitesize Wonders…

  • The envelope that finally pops in through the letterbox after a long wait of anticipation and excitement. It’s the wedding invitation of one of my “bestest” of friends from my high school days back in Italy and has travelled a very long way to my doorstep. I guess you now know where I’ll be in June!
  • Another one. Yes, I got another concert ticket for later in the year. The fourth of 2024 – it’s shaping up to be another fun year.
  • Ditching my warm four walls for a cosy noodle restaurant. My ideal Friday night…
  • The way everything makes sense when the last chorus hits.
  • A late-night grocery run that starts in the meat section and ends way too soon in the home accessories aisle.
  • Finally making it out of the big city traffic in time to make the appointment. The most undesirable kind of rush.
  • The blue dot in my inbox that brings out hope from an unexpected correspondence. Part of me fears another letdown. The other part welcomes each possibility, even if it is just a case of blind optimism.

Your restless romantic roamer
