Bitesize Wonders 78 ~ A Sunday Gratitude Journal

I hadn’t had a bad night’s sleep in a long time, but this week brought the unexpected my way. Tossing and turning in bed was in no way abnormal throughout my week and I guess I was reminded just how lucky I am to usually sleep well most nights. It’s both good and bad news that I know exactly what’s been causing my sleepless nights. While I have a good grip on the cause of my anxious feelings lately, in some ways it’s out of my hands and I’m not sure where to start to change things or if I even can. 

For now, I guess I’ll let that question linger…
Instead, I’m choosing to shift my attention to the more wholesome or positive things I find to hold onto every day. Of course, I’m referring to the collection of simple joys I stored in my list of Bitesize Wonders, aka my online gratitude journal.
It’s not always easy, but if you look intently, you’ll see there’s always some good in the everyday mundane.

Here is another update from my weekly online gratitude journal that celebrates the little big things that make me even one ounce of happy:

My Bitesize Wonders…

  • The slow parting of the clouds on a grey day that gives way to the entrance of rays and sunshine. Maybe it’s not all doom and gloom after all.
  • A bit of something home-cooked by my mum. Love in a ceramic bowl. 
  • Channelling the ‘fake it till you make it’ energy before a big meeting. Sometimes that is the only option left and there’s not a damn thing wrong with that!
  • Getting dressed with nowhere to go. Look better – feel better, they say. Well, I can confirm it works for sure.
  • A sweaty gym session to fight off my mountain of anxious feelings. The stair-stepper, some weight trainer, and a slow walk on the treadmill for the finale. Anxious feelings subsided, not eliminated.
  • The last turn in between the sheets before I finally drift into a sound sleep. Nothing better.
