I Tried THIS La-Roche-Posay Sunscreen. Is It The Best?

| |

One of my greatest mistakes when I started my skincare journey (trust me, there were many), was never wearing sunscreen at the end of my routines. I was lucky enough to be blessed with good skin in my teen years so I only began to see the value in a good skin care routine in my early 20s.
My mindset at the time was simple; if it ain’t broken… If I were completely honest, back then I also found the skincare routines I saw online to be pretty overwhelming. They seemed like a tedious endeavour, and I didn’t quite know where to start or how to find products that would really work for my skin best…

Anyway, that was many moons ago, and since then I have caught up with my fellow skincare addicts, and have learnt to always have SPF in my routine – thank god for that! Today I thought I’d tell you about the La Roche-Posay Anthelios, the sunscreen I’ve been using and loving for many months. I already once put together the “Best Of La Roche-Posay”; an edit of some of my favourite products from the brand like the Toleriane Sensitive Moisturiser, but I didn’t dive into the ‘La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50’ as I am about to now. Is La Roche-Posay sunscreen good? Does the La Roche-Posay Anthelios leave a white cast? Let’s dive right in!

Is La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid sunscreen good?

Well, the simple answer would be yes, but what’s there to love about the product?

Firstly, the formula is super lightweight and consistent so when applied, it doesn’t leave a feeling of heaviness at all. This SPF 50 fluid texture is like that of a classic lotion, so it absorbs into the skin quite easily. If you’re looking for a non-greasy and lightweight formula to wear every single day that provides maximum protection, the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune is certainly a great choice.

Does La Roche-Posay Sunscreen Leave A White Cast?

Absolutely not. I’ve used the Anthelios sunscreen for a long time because it seamlessly blends into my skin. I believe this sunscreen would be suitable for every skin tone. There is a tinted version of the La Roche-Posay sunscreen, but it’s never been my pick. If you have oily skin, you might want to try their SPF 50 for oily blemish-prone skin instead.

Things I’d Change About The La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sun Cream.

  • Whilst the formula is very lightweight, it is also quite runny which I didn’t love at first. Part of it was an issue because I wasn’t shaking the product well before use as per instructions. Don’t be like me – shake it well before use! It runs down my face regardless, but not in an uncontrollable way.
  • Whilst there is no strong fragrance, the sunscreen does give off a bit of an ‘alcohol-like‘ scent at first. It doesn’t bother me as much, but it is something to note.

    1. Hi Julie! I haven’t had any issues using my vitamin c serum with the La Roche Posay sunscreen at all. However, I always recommend introducing new products to your routine slowly if you’re worried about flare ups or irritation. Hope this helps!

  1. Hi just wondered if you thought this was a good sunscreen to use under foundation. I have rosacea and need to wear a little foundation daily

    1. Hi Carole, thank you for taking the time to read my review. For me, while I don’t wear foundation every day, when I do, I can say this La Roche Posay sunscreen works well for me and my makep glides on easy. Don’t forget to check the ingredients list before you apply to make sure it doesn’t contain anything you might already be aware makes your skin flare up. If you do decide to get it, let me know how you get on xx
