Bitesize Wonders 89 ~ A Sunday Gratitude Journal

Plates of pasta at Ezra and Gil Manchester

I once described change as an uncomfortable pair of new shoes and this week it seems I’m relearning what I truly meant by that. There have been so many big decisions happening around me all at once, and just like adapting to new shoes, I can’t help but wonder if I too will ‘stretch’ myself enough to feel comfortable with them.

Perhaps, I’ve been living the same routine for too long now, that I’m more resistant to change. Who knows, maybe there is some good in feeling the rug pulled from right under… I know from experience it’s impossible to escape change so maybe embracing it is the next best thing.

In times like these, I really do cling to the little things – Bitesize Wonders that bring a smile to my face. It can be hard to see the finest things in life when caught up in a thunderstorm of emotions. This is why I make it my business to catch moments of pure wonder and trap them on a page. It’s so I never forget that in the midst of chaos that can be beauty too.

Here is another update from my weekly online gratitude journal series that celebrates the little big things that make me even one ounce of happy:

My Bitesize Wonders…

  • The cosy 30-minute reading session after sunrise that starts the day off so right. Flipping through page after page. Hanging on every word on the page. Reluctantly putting it down to give way to the rest of my morning routine.
  • A sister date trying out meals and drinks at Ezra & Gil Manchester. My new favourite coffee shop restaurant unlocked.
  • When 3% battery lasts long enough for me to reach my front door.
  • The 9:30 am meeting I anticipated that turned out as productive as I hoped. New things are on the horizon…!
  • Pasta. Pasta. And even more PASTA!
  • Blending more mangos for my current favourite mojito. A bit of mango, 2 or 3 slices of lime, a few mint leaves and a can of Sprite. You don’t have to take my word for it – go try it!
  • Finally getting my wheelchair serviced after too long. It cost a pretty penny but it’s a worthwhile price for peace of mind.
  • The accomplished sigh when logging out of my work computer knowing full well a long bank holiday weekend awaits.
