Rare Eau De Parfum: The Fragrance That Gets It Right

| |

Before I pick up any product, I always search for an urge within – a yearning of sorts. A voice in my ear that whispers, “I just got to have it”, or a visual of the item perfectly placed in a picturesque corner of my bedroom.
It’s an undeniable feeling that has me reaching for items I rarely regret taking home with me. When I saw the announcement of the release of Rare Beauty Fragrance, I knew then and there that it would be part of my perfume collection sooner rather than later.
Although I’ve admired the success of the brand from the sidelines, I just never got around to trying any of Rare Beauty’s offerings yet – until now. Naturally, I had my reservations before getting all excited about the new Rare Beauty fragrance – after all, you can’t enjoy a perfume’s scent through a screen.

However, while I know better than to judge a book by its cover, I just couldn’t help but be ecstatic looking at the adorable yet functional perfume bottle. Here’s the truth: the Rare Eau De Parfum should not be revolutionary in any way, and certainly not in our times, but it simply is.
As a disabled woman with limited dexterity, perfumes have never been a breeze for me to put on. Despite owning a few and loving perfumes, they always required some sort of workaround or weren’t always suitable to use on my own. Bottle designs were too chunky or hard to grip, or too long with the tiniest spray nozzle ever seen. Like many products, it was clear they weren’t designed with accessibility in mind. Therefore, when I saw the Rare Beauty fragrance bottle and read that hand therapists were consulted in its design, I just knew I had to try it.

What’s Special About Rare Eau De Parfum?

Selena Gomez’s Rare Eau De Parfum presents a design that is both elegant and simple, yet classy. The perfume bottle is lightweight and small enough to fit into the palm of the hand. Where the Rare Beauty perfume excels in comparison to other brands is in its easy-to-spray design.

Yes, I absolutely love a long-lasting, warm vanilla scent, but for me, its unique charm is undoubtedly the thoughtful design. The ergonomic bottle allows users to be able to simply push down on the top of the perfume to spray the fragrance.

What Does Rare Eau De Parfum Smell Like?

Now, the perfume bottle design may be groundbreaking in various ways, but what about its contents? What does Rare Eau De Parfum smell like? Is it worth opening your purse for?

Ehm yes…! The newly released Rare Beauty perfume smells like a warm mix of caramel and vanilla that’s not too sweet, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I’m a personal fan of classic vanilla scents, but at times, they can dial up the sweetness in a scent that can be too juvenile. Rare Eau De Parfum is not that – thankfully. Its other base notes, like pink pepper and ginger, give the fragrance a bold and unmistakable spicy kick.

In terms of longevity throughout the day, I’m glad to report the fragrance holds its own as time goes by. I was able to smell it on my body at the end of long days, and the scent really clung to my clothes even after countless hours.

My Experience Using Rare Eau De Parfum.

Even products that aim to be accessible to everyone cannot always be. As we know, accessibility needs vary from person to person, so I’m not sure there ever can be a product ‘perfect’ for all of us. What’s accessible for me might not be for you. As a disabled person, I tend to rely on my creativity or the help of someone else to use products I love or just want to try. Nonetheless, I appreciate Rare Beauty’s effort in taking active steps to address an access need most brands do not even ponder upon. Personally, Rare Beauty’s Rare Eau De Parfum is the easiest perfume I’ve ever sprayed. The shape of the bottle makes it easy to hold in one hand. Likewise, I found pressing the pump down to spray to be an effortless endeavour, especially when placed on a dressing table.

The Rare Beauty perfume has a cap that you twist to unlock and lock, which helps secure it for travel or avoid unintentional sprays. When unboxing the perfume, I found twisting the cap wasn’t the easiest, but I did manage to do it by using my other hand to hold down the bottle. Once open, I had absolutely no issues wearing the Rare Eau De Parfum and currently use it often.
