Bitesize Wonders 68 ~ A Sunday Gratitude Journal
This weekend, my sister and I put up the Christmas tree – the earliest it’s ever gone up in our home. I think it’s a sign I’m already excited for all things merry and bright – and most importantly, I’m looking forward to a couple of days off work. I’ve booked a few days away for the holidays too. Who doesn’t love a little end-of-the-year treat? You bet I’m counting down the days…
Although I’ve always been impatient, I definitely have to slow down as November hasn’t drifted away just yet. It’s been a month of slow living and deep reflecting. There were more ordinary days than the glorious kind that leave a lasting mark on memory.
The Bitesize Wonders were sometimes so well hidden I had to go on a treasure hunt to find them. But they are always there. Always. And these are the little joys that kept me going the last fortnight:
My Bitesize Wonders…
- The golden glow reflecting shadows on the walls courtesy of a sunny afternoon. They are so rare these days – I cherish every single one.
- Breakfast in a paper bag. It’s a terrible pricey habit I’ve picked up lately ordering breakfast to find me in bed every Saturday. It’s as tasty as it is lazy.
- Finding the right words to speak up for myself in a sticky situation. As a former people pleaser, it’s not always an easy feat!
- Happy hours binge-watching all four seasons of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan in a week and a half.
- Pressing play on holiday tunes for the first time this year as my sister and I dress up the tree. That’s one way to get into the Christmas Spirit!
- An unexpected warm message from an old friend that simply reads: “Hi… how are you?”.
- Heated conversations around the dinner table. The restaurant lights are so dim it is almost too dark to see the plate of food in front of us, but our table well-lit up by passionate dialogue. An exchange of minds. A deal to agree to disagree. A great night in my books – or digital gratitude journal.
