Bitesize Wonders 69 ~ A Sunday Gratitude Journal

Hello December, and you lovely one! We’re officially in the last month of the year, and for some reason, I’m feeling fully prepared to say goodbye to 2023. Maybe, it’s because there’s still so much I wanted to do before the year ends. Perhaps, I’m not entirely ready to reset or restart, but I’m hoping with a little bit of rest, time spent with family, and a healthy number of days off this holiday season, I’ll feel better about letting go.

Although I may be hesitant to leave the year behind, I’m very much in the Christmas spirit already. The tree went up last weekend, the Christmas music is already on repeat, and although I’m behind with picking out everyone’s gift, I’m not worried because I always manage in the end. It’s a pro procrastinator’s talent.

When I wasn’t working, I spent most of my time editing my next YouTube video, binge-watching the last episodes of Virgin River, and eating loads of pasta. In other words, nothing much has changed.

As per usual, it’s time to open up my gratitude journal for the week. Here are the little big things that made me even one ounce of happy the past few days:

My Bitesize Wonders…

= The first fall of snow making my inner child giddy and elated.

= Pulling down the heavy teddy fleece duvet covers from the top of the wardrobe. Now my bed is a cloud of warmth. It’s that time of year when the good stuff is not just good, but necessary.

= The anticipated arrival of Spotify Wrapped allowing me to relive my year in music. I learned I’m addicted to Taylor Swift, Twice (saw them in concert in the summer) and couldn’t get enough of Raye’s voice – no surprise there though! 82,553 minutes of music later, and I still can’t get enough…

= The smell and feel of a new hardcover. I’ve been reading on my Kindle more and more (and even highly recommend it), but there’s something unbeatable about holding a book in the palm of my hand.

= Hair wash day. A sense of newness.

= Videogames after midnight. Still one of my favourite ways to spend the time over the weekend.

= Finding my way out of a creative rut. Now and then I feel stuck as a creator, but I know it’s essential to go through the cycle. After all, writer’s block doesn’t have to be a negative. What’s left is excitement for what’s to come.
