Bitesize Wonders 81 ~ A Sunday Gratitude Journal

|

Like a hamster on a wheel. That’s how I’ve felt in the past few months. I’ve been running around in an endless loop with no clear end in sight and I guess I had forgotten how to catch my breath.
If you noticed my absence on the blog last week (you’re a real special one!) you might have seen there was no new post to read which was a little odd. In recent times, I’m super proud of the fact that I’ve been rigorously sticking to my commitment to release a new blog post every Sunday and Monday. It brings me much joy and fulfilment to show up here consistently and earnestly, so choosing to not show up for last Sunday’s gratitude journal entry was a hard choice.

After confessing in the newsletter (subscribe here!) the week before that things had not been going great recently, it dawned on me that maybe – just maybe – it was time to stop running.
It was time for a mini hiatus of sorts; one that would allow me to rearrange my thoughts and realign myself with my truest self. This meant, a week off all things content-related to figure it all out. I won’t say I’m fully there yet, but I’ve been working on me. Even in this uncertain time, I haven’t stopped collecting Bitesize Wonders in my every day and trapping them across the pages of my gratitude journal.
It’s not been easy, but it’s been worth it in every way.

Here is another update from my weekly online gratitude journal that celebrates the little big things that make me even one ounce of happy:

My Bitesize Wonders…

  • Breakfast in bed. Sunlight stealing the show on a spring day. Jazzy music to set the mood. A slow morning to cherish.
  • The much-needed ‘everything’ shower. Picking out a flowy dress. Applying concealer in front of the mirror. Choosing my natural lip colour over my classic red. A sense of put-togetherness I want to hold onto.
  • Dragging my feet out of the house after over a week couped up indoors. Crazy, I know! Baby steps… baby steps.
  • The abstract lines coming together to draw a full picture. Brush strokes and wet paint. Since my sister took up painting a few weeks ago, it’s been fun to try my hands at a different type of creative endeavour. Might be a little elementary, but I’m sure enjoying my new hobby.
  • Conversations with friends. 6-minute-long audio messages. The “How are you today?” text that lights up the screen. Love bursting through heart emojis and xs and os.
  • Rediscovering the ‘Terrible, Thanks For Asking’ podcast. Sometimes, honesty really is the best policy, and this podcast embraces the truth that at the end of the question “How are you?” doesn’t always lie a “Fine, thank you”.
